A Seat That Balances Wit and Motion.

At first glance, it's a stool. But take a seat, and you’ll feel the genius behind it.

Inspired by tractor seats and born from the playful mind of Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni in 1957, the Mezzadro Stool fuses mechanical function with sculptural form.

A suspended sheet-metal seat perches atop a bent steel stem, stabilized by a single butterfly nut and a solid ash wood beam.

The result? A seat that subtly flexes as you settle in—blending wit, engineering, and a surprising sense of rhythm.

It doesn’t just hold you—it engages you. It sways with you. It turns a moment of pause into a moment of design.

4 Colors. Infinite Character. One Living Icon.

Why settle for subtle when you can choose iconic?

The Mezzadro Stool now arrives in four statement-making shades: crisp White, bold Bordeaux, deep Black, and earthy Olive Green.

Each brings its own personality to the space—from gallery minimalism to retro rebellion. Whether you go for punchy contrast or tone-on-tone styling, this isn’t just color for color’s sake.

It’s mood, identity, and atmosphere—poured into steel, anchored in wood, finished to perfection.

Your home doesn’t need more furniture. It needs more character.

      Achille & Pier Giacomo Castiglioni

      Designer

Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni were Italian designers renowned for their innovative and playful approach to design. Born in Milan in 1918 and 1913, respectively, they collaborated on numerous projects that combined functionality with artistic expression.

The Mezzadro Stool, designed in 1957 and produced by Zanotta starting in 1970, exemplifies their inventive spirit. The stool features a tractor seat mounted on a chromed steel stem, with a footrest made of natural beech wood. Its name, "Mezzadro," meaning "sharecropper" in Italian, reflects its agricultural inspiration. The design playfully transforms a utilitarian object into a functional piece of furniture, embodying the Castiglionis' philosophy of using everyday materials in unexpected ways.

      Seamless Design. Shaped for Comfort.

      This isn’t just a seat—it’s a statement in precision.
Crafted from a single steel sheet, the Mezzadro’s seat is stamped and sculpted into an elegant curve that mimics the natural contour of the human body. No bolts. No breaks. Just a smooth, continuous surface that supports you exactly where you need it. The gently sloped edges reduce pressure points, making even a short pause feel like a moment of ease.
Form meets function in one flawless motion—because true comfort doesn’t shout, it simply fits.

      Clean Finish. Clean Conscience.

When it comes to materials that touch your life, shortcuts aren't an option.
The Mezzadro’s seat is coated using a food-grade electrostatic powder process—free from odors, formaldehyde, or harmful residues. It’s a finish you can trust in kitchens, studios, or kids’ rooms alike. The smooth matte surface resists stains, wipes clean with ease, and stays looking sharp even after daily use.
Every edge is carefully polished by hand—so it feels as smooth as it looks. No snags. No sharpness. Just honest craftsmanship, where it counts.

Strength You Can Sit On. Design You’ll Talk About.

What holds you up should be just as thoughtful as what surrounds you.
The Mezzadro’s legs are forged from solid stainless steel—not hollow tubes, not shortcuts. This full-core structure boosts load-bearing strength to over 100kg with ease, so you’ll never second-guess its stability.
Engineered at a precise 60-degree tilt, the legs create both visual balance and real-world support. It’s not just a stool—it’s a structural statement. With a gentle bounce that adds comfort, and a form inspired by architecture, it turns everyday seating into an act of confidence.
