UF Dust in Your Light Chair
Description
Creative Spark:
Introducing the UF Dust in Your Light Chair—a poetic homage to Jean Prouvé’s timeless Standard Chair, reimagined with reverence and refinement. Just like dust drifting through sunlight, this chair balances strength and subtlety with purpose. Inspired by aviation mechanics, it’s a desk chair that proves function can be beautiful when stripped down to its essence.
Fabric Finesse:
Engineered with tapered steel legs modeled after aircraft wings, the back legs distribute weight with ease—giving it the rock-solid feel of a computer chair, but with the lightweight grace of industrial art. A sculpted wooden chair seat and ergonomic backrest create a seamless form that supports without shouting. Everything you need, nothing you don’t.
Character Alignment:
Whether styled as a dining chair in a modern loft, a sleek living room chair with minimalist flair, or a dining room chair that doubles as functional sculpture, it stands proud in any space. For lovers of clean lines and pure intentions—this isn’t just a chair. It’s structural poetry, made to live with you.

Have a question?

Engineered to Endure. Designed to Disappear.
It doesn’t shout. It simply works—quietly, brilliantly.
Designed by French architect Jean Prouvé in the 1930s, the Standard Chair is a masterclass in form meeting function.
Inspired by airplane wings, the signature steel rear legs use a tapered, bent-metal design that redistributes weight and maximizes strength without adding unnecessary bulk.
Every curve is intentional. The angled steel flows seamlessly into the seat frame, locking the backrest at just the right pitch while reducing material weight. No extra frills. Just pure industrial logic.
This is a chair that fades into the room—until you sit down. Then it speaks volumes.
It’s structure over style, which ironically, makes it one of the most stylish chairs ever made.

4 Finishes. Two Tones. One Timeless Signature.
A single silhouette. Four ways to make it yours.
Same iconic shape, four distinct personalities. The UF Orion Dust in Your Light Chair is available in a quartet of wood tones: bold black walnut, soft cherry, fresh ash, and a striking black-and-white birch veneer.
Each one brings a different mood, but all share the same sculptural grace.
We kept the finish matte and minimal to let the natural grain shine through.
Paired with that signature wide-leg steel base, the whole piece feels both grounded and graceful—just the way Jean Prouvé intended.
Whether you choose warm or cool tones, this chair doesn’t just match your space—it makes it smarter.

Jean Prouvé
Designer
Jean Prouvé (1901–1984) was a French designer, architect, and metalworker, widely regarded for his innovative contributions to industrial design and architecture. Known for his functional yet aesthetically refined pieces, Prouvé combined modernism with an engineering approach to design, particularly in his use of metal and new manufacturing techniques.
Prouvé initially trained as a metalworker, which heavily influenced his approach to design. He worked with various architects and engineers, and his designs are often characterized by their industrial materials, such as steel and aluminum. His work is rooted in a deep understanding of how materials and construction techniques can be used to create both beautiful and functional objects.
Prouvé believed in "designing for the masses" and often focused on creating affordable, functional pieces that could be mass-produced without compromising on quality. His work is marked by simplicity, precision, and an emphasis on practicality, often blurring the lines between industrial and furniture design.

Refined to the Millimeter. Crafted to Endure.
Thin enough to feel elegant. Tough enough to last.
Most chairs compromise—make the backrest too thin, and it risks snapping. Make it too thick, and you lose all sense of lightness. We engineered the perfect in-between: a 6-layer, 8.5mm bent plywood back using precision heat-press molding. The result? A contour as crisp as a potato chip, yet with the resilience of spring steel.
We wrap each form in natural wood veneer, then finish it with an open-pore lacquer. It’s not just a coating—it’s a window. Run your fingers along it and you’ll feel the wood’s texture. Look close, and the grain shows through like it’s alive.
This isn’t just manufacturing. It’s woodwork that respects both science and soul.

Designed for Posture. Engineered for Pressure.
A seat that supports you in more ways than one.
The front edge of the seat flows in a gentle waterfall curve—designed to reduce pressure under the thighs and support circulation. That curve isn’t just for comfort, it’s for longevity: better pressure distribution means better posture, longer sits, and fewer aches.
Even where you don’t look, we care. Screws are inset below the surface, leaving the seat smooth to the touch—no snags, no pinches. We custom-mold each component, pre-adjust for wood expansion gaps (just 0.3mm), and keep every frame joint within a 0.5mm tolerance. That’s not just precision—it’s obsession.

Grounded in Strength. Built for Real Life.
You won’t feel it move—because it won’t.
The underside of this chair isn’t an afterthought. It’s a finely tuned support system: four anchor points distributed in a load-balanced geometric layout, ensuring perfect weight distribution.
The frame uses Q195-grade carbon steel for strength that doesn’t flinch under pressure. We’ve thickened the rear legs—no seams, no joints—and smoothed every weld until it disappears. End result? A base that holds 200kg with zero shake, zero squeak, and zero compromise.
It’s quiet confidence, built into every leg.
